Safe enough for our own kids.
We are parents too. Here is exactly what we promise about your child’s safety in Rafiq, and how to reach us if something ever worries you.
Six promises
- No ads, everRafiq is not funded by advertising and never will be. Nothing in the game is designed to sell a child something.
- No strangersThere is no open chat, no friend requests, and no way for an adult outside your family to contact your child through Rafiq.
- Parents in controlThe parent dashboard shows what your child did, how long they played, and lets you pause Rafiq with one tap.
- Age-appropriate by designEvery mission, every line Rafiq says, is written and reviewed for children aged 6 to 12. Rafiq is curious, kind, and never scary.
- Honest AIRafiq shows his thinking. Kids learn that an AI makes guesses and can be wrong, so they grow up as critical thinkers, not passive users.
- No dark patternsNo timers, no streak guilt, no loot boxes, no fail states. The game ends when your child wants it to.
How Rafiq talks to your child
Rafiq uses AI to understand what your child says and to answer in natural Arabic or English. That AI runs inside guardrails we design and test: a fixed, child-safe personality, topic limits, and filters on both what goes in and what comes out. Rafiq does not browse the open internet, does not learn from other children’s conversations, and cannot be “jailbroken” into a different character by typing clever prompts. Conversations are reviewed only by our trained team, only to improve safety, and parents can read and delete them from the dashboard.
Your child’s data
When the game launches we will ask for a parent’s verified consent before collecting anything from a child, as required by COPPA in the United States and similar laws elsewhere. We will collect only what the game needs to work, keep it only as long as needed, never sell it, and never use it for advertising. You will be able to review and delete your child’s data from the parent dashboard at any time. Our privacy policy explains what we collect on this website today.
Report a concern
If you see anything in Rafiq that worries you, or if you believe a child is at risk, email hello@rafiq.academy with “Safety” in the subject line. A person reads these within one working day. For an emergency, contact your local emergency services first.
Standards we follow
- United States COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).
- The GDPR and UK Age Appropriate Design Code principles for services likely to be used by children.
- Platform family policies, including Apple’s and Google’s rules for kids apps.
We review these promises before every release. If we ever change one, we will tell you first.
Questions? Ask us anything.
We would rather answer a hundred questions than have one parent wonder.
